MediaPractice
Publication liability issues can occur for any business. Our Media Practice understands how to implement pragmatic solutions that transcend the courtroom to help clients resolve challenging issues around defamation and other publishing-related legal issues, whether it be in traditional broadcast or print, in nonfiction books and screenplays, or on social media.
We apply our experience to create smart roadmaps to get to a solution, with as little headache, expense, and time as possible. We strategically assist clients with the following services:
- Defense of defamation and privacy claims, with a focus in privileges, anti-SLAPP motions, constitutional defenses, and jurisdictional strategies
- Creative conflict resolution and reputation repair with a focus on content takedown and strategic partnerships with public relations professionals
- Pre-publication review and risk assessment
When clients find themselves suffering from reputational harm, we know to look for practical solutions, including use of takedown procedures, partnerships with public relations professionals, use of retraction statutes, and if necessary, litigation.
Our attorneys have successfully defended numerous defamation cases, including for news organizations, celebrities, and businesses, often with an award of attorney’s fees for our client. We often can develop strategies to use dispositive motions to dismiss cases early in the litigation, saving the client fees and the stress of a trial.
