Roy Harold “Hal” Meeks Jr.

Atlanta, Georgia

Hal Meeks defends your business: from your clients or patients who are unhappy with outcomes, competitors who seek to take your talent, employees who refuse to honor post-employment agreements, or vendors who fail to honor contractual agreements. With years of experience in the health care field and the financial services sector, Hal has been a problem solver. He often repeats his recipe for successful resolution: “Business litigation needs to be two parts ‘business’ to one part ‘litigation.’” Your business objectives are the foremost concern.

Mr. Meeks is a member of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department at Taylor English. He has tried well over 100 bench and jury trials and binding arbitrations. He heads a medical malpractice defense team and is approved as an arbitrator for FINRA and the National Futures Association.

Mr. Meeks is an honor graduate of UGA and UGA law school. He has practiced law in Atlanta since 1979. He made partner at his first firm and remained there until 1989. He left to found a firm along with his wife and other litigator friends where he practiced for the next 23 years. He joined Taylor English in 2015.

In the community, Hal served on the Board of Directors of the Brain Tumor Foundation for Children Inc. beginning in 1996, served as President from 2001 to 2008, and as Chairman of the Board from 2005 to 2012. BTFC merged with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation in 2014. He also has held several positions of responsibility at Northside Drive Baptist Church. Hal is married to law school classmate, Jo Lanier Meeks, and they have two adult children and two grandchildren. In his free time, he plays golf, guitar and piano.
