Philip McCann has more than 35 years of intellectual property experience with a particular focus on patent law. He prosecutes patent and trademark applications before the United State Patent and Trademark Office and provides strategic guidance to clients on patent and trademark infringement and patent licensing issues, as well as the management of patent and trademark portfolios.

Mr. McCann counsels clients on patent matters in a variety of fields, including specialty chemicals, polymer chemistry, tires, manufacturing equipment, adhesives, and medical devices. He also advises a number of large corporations in patent prosecution matters in the United States and opposition proceedings in Europe.

Prior to joining Taylor English, Mr. McCann was a partner with a regional firm in the Carolinas and headed up the IP group for 15 years. He also gained experience serving as Chief IP Counsel for both Great Lakes Chemical Corporation and Clariant Corporation and serving as a patent counsel for Hoechst Celanese for 10 years.

Mr. McCann is a 20 year member of the Association of Corporate Patent Counsel. Outside of the office, he enjoys his family, playing hockey, traveling, reading, and his background includes running 13 Boston Marathons.
