Ms. Hyland areas of focus include trademark and copyright enforcement and litigation, trademark clearance, and portfolio management. She also draws on more than a decade of experience handling media issues, including litigation and prepublication review relating to publishing, advertising, journalism, and social media, including privacy and defamation.

She is often able to provide flat fee and retainer structures for domestic and international portfolio management, and she works with colleagues across the globe to provide a comprehensive, effective brand management strategy that prioritizes her clients’ needs for predictability, budgeting, business objectives, and results. Ms. Hyland is an experienced litigator, serving as counsel in more than 100 cases across the country, and dozens more in the Trademark Trial & Appeal Board. Her wins include claims regarding cybersquatting, internet advertising, trademarks as key words, color as trademark, product trade dress, trademark priority, trademark ownership, SLAPP suits, and copyright in visual art, architecture, and consumer products.
She serves as the Vice President of the Atlanta Intellectual Property Inn of Court, and she is the chair of the International Trademark Association Academic Committee. She is also involved in her community, and currently is on the Executive Board of Kate’s Club. She loves sharing her legal skills with organizations that advocate for the welfare of children and animals.
