Alan David Barson is a partner in Taylor English’s Corporate Department. Based in Miami, Florida, Mr. Barson focuses his practice on corporate and business matters, entertainment and sports, personal representation, international trade, technology, intellectual property, licensing, and brand management. A consummate problem solver, Mr. Barson provides high level strategic guidance and works collaboratively to devise innovative solutions tailored to each client’s unique needs.

Prior to joining Taylor English, Mr. Barson served as Senior Vice President/Head of Business & Legal Affairs and General Counsel for London/Sire Records Group, a Time Warner affiliate in the Warner Music Group, where he led the company’s global business and legal operations. Mr. Barson also practiced law with preeminent corporate, entertainment and media law firms in New York City, where he represented public media conglomerates, private companies, senior executives and creative talent across multiple industries such as recorded music and music publishing, film, television, theater, fashion, book publishing, and technology.

Mr. Barson also served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City, teaching the highly regarded “Entertainment Lawyering” seminar, fulfilling a passion to mentor and inspire the next generation of legal professionals.

Before his legal career, Mr. Barson was an executive and a creative in the London recorded music industry where he worked as a talent manager, music publisher and record producer/engineer. Mr. Barson also served on the executive committee of the Young Variety Club of Great Britain, a foundation dedicated to the betterment of disabled and underprivileged children.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Mr. Barson enjoys Miami’s vibrant arts, entertainment and cultural offerings, and proudly serves on the board of Area Stage, Inc., a nonprofit performing arts and theatre organization. He is passionate about family time, food and wine, travel, and outdoor activities like hiking, skiing, and snowboarding. In January 2023, he competed in the Maccabe Winter Olympics as part of the Italian ski team, earning gold and silver medals in various events alongside his wife, who is also a gold medalist.
