David Blackmar counsels and represents a wide variety of manufacturing and commercial clients on environmental and other federal and state regulatory matters. Over the course of his 27-year career, he has developed particular experience in providing comprehensive legal services to the food processing, manufacturing, and distribution industry. In this area of his practice, he assists companies with the full range of regulatory matters, including environmental permitting and compliance for food manufacturing facilities, supply chain environmental issues, FDA regulation of new food ingredients and packaging materials, food trademarks and patents, product labeling and claims, food safety, recalls and reporting requirements, co-manufacturing agreements, agency enforcement defense, product liability, and litigation.
Mr. Blackmar built his food industry practice in response to client demands for comprehensive and economical services, and to prepare food companies for the next generation of food law and litigation arising from the federal Food Safety Modernization Act and similar laws being adopted globally. In building this practice, he has assembled an outside network of leading food scientists, product branding and marketing experts, food business startup consultants, and environmental health and safety experts. This approach ensures that his firm’s clients have access to the full scope of services they need today to succeed and grow in the food industry.
Mr. Blackmar earned his BA in Economics, and his MA in Environmental Policy at Tufts University. He graduated from Boston College Law School, JD, cum laude.
