Profile
Patrick Lucas is a multifaceted lawyer who caters individually to the needs of each client he represents. Mr. Lucas assists clients with business, legal strategies and implementation. Mr. Lucas is a member of Taylor English’s Corporate and Business, Real Estate, Corporate Lending and Finance, and Leisure and Hospitality Departments.
Mr. Lucas focuses his practice in the areas of general corporate, business law; mergers and acquisitions; corporate reorganizations; lending, finance, representation of originators and sellers of commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) loan transactions, commercial and residential real estate transactions, including the acquisition sale and leasing of commercial, multi-family, retail, industrial, hotel and resort properties; resort and land development, and the representation of minority controlled and disadvantaged companies in obtaining certification on a state and federal level. Mr. Lucas also assists restaurants, hotels, resorts; and other businesses in all aspects of licensing and compliance, including alcohol licensing, and other regulatory matters.
Most recently, Mr. Lucas was senior general counsel for a national retail corporation with more than $300 million in revenue annually and 500 employees nationwide. He managed the legal department and advised the company in areas such as employment, regulatory compliance, general corporate matters, licensing, M&A matters, leasing, real estate acquisition, anti-money laundering policies and compliances and best business practices.
Prior to joining Taylor English, Mr. Lucas was a member of the corporate, resort and hospitality group at a full-service law firm. He is originally from Queens, New York, where he practiced law for several years prior to relocating to Georgia with his family.
Prior to becoming an attorney Mr. Lucas owned and operated several businesses, including a full service restaurant, which gives him a unique perspective and is helpful in his representation of clients. He has represented startup companies with all aspects of the business process from inception through commercialization, and has helped large corporations navigate through very complex transactions.
Mr. Lucas earned his BA from St. John’s University and his JD from Brooklyn Law School of Law where he was the recipient of the 2001 CALI Excellence for the Future Award for achievement in the study of International Business Transactions. While at Brooklyn Law School he also received the Martin Luther King, Jr. and Metrick Scholarships for academic achievement.

Represented a start-up Georgia company that expanded its precious metals business to Illinois and California. Provided legal advice in all aspects of corporate and business development and assisted the company in opening more than 200 locations throughout the United States. Represented Basis Real Estate Capital, LLC with the origination and funding of multiple CMBS loan transactions, which were included in an approximately $785 million securitization. Continues to advise and represent client in quarterly CMBS securitization transaction. Represented lender in the negotiation and drafting of CMBS loan documents for a subsequent securitization.
Represented resort developer in the sale of $30 million resort and other assets. Represented a South Carolina-based timeshare developer with its sale of timeshare resorts located in South Carolina and Tennessee. Assisted in drafting and negotiation of asset purchase and sale agreement and all related closing documents. We also assisted in updating all necessary regulatory registrations.
Represented prominent hotel located in Buckhead, Atlanta in all aspects of licensing, compliance and general corporate matters. Assisted hotel developer with all state, federal and local alcohol licensing, including business licensing for the hotel and related restaurant Craft.
Represented Las Vegas resort developer in the sale of real property intended for a redevelopment project located on the Vegas strip by Harrah’s Hotel Resort and Casino. One of several attorneys involved in document negotiation, drafting and closing the transaction.
Represented a resort developer in connection with a $40 million hypothecation loan transaction involving receivable loans, which was securitized. Assisted in all aspects of document negotiation and drafting and due diligence.
Represented surviving company in a $200 million merger. Represented resort developer in acquisition of new resort homes to add to a club. The transaction also involved a $200 million credit facility with CapitalSource bank. Assisted in negotiation of the purchase and sale agreement, review of due diligence, review of loan documents and preparation of all corporate work relative to the transaction.
