Gail Kinney focuses her practice primarily on health care law and the complex legal needs of physicians and other professionals in the health care industry. In addition to advising on a variety of general business matters, Ms. Kinney works closely with health care professionals and entities to ensure the delivery of health care services in compliance with federal and state laws, rules and regulations.
As counsel to health care providers, Ms. Kinney provides assistance in drafting and negotiating agreements between health care professionals and group practices and between group practices and health care facilities. She also provides legal guidance concerning compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), self-referral (Stark Law), anti-kickback, reimbursement rules and regulations and civil investigations initiated by agencies of the federal government (including investigations resulting from individual whistleblowers). The breadth of Ms. Kinney’s experience in the fields of finance and real estate and keen insight into the needs of health care providers competing in a dynamic health care environment gives her a unique perspective and understanding of smart business practices.
Ms. Kinney has significant experience in corporate finance and the commercial and investment banking arenas. She has large-firm practice experience and also has served as in-house counsel to a publicly traded medical billing and software technology entity.
With extensive experience in the real estate arena, Ms. Kinney counsels developers, builders and tenants on a wide variety of real estate matters, such as commercial leasing, land acquisition, build-to-suit, zoning, construction, title matters and financing.
In her spare time, Ms. Kinney enjoys her family, church leadership positions, volunteer work, skiing, golf, tennis and advocating for animal rights.
