March 6, 2013

On Feb. 27, 2013, Amy Burton Loggins' article, “The Importance of the Oft-Forgotten Handbook,” was published online at Human Resources Executive. In the article, Loggins stresses the importance of a company’s employee guidebook as it serves as the foundation for all company policies, procedures and practices. She outlines 10 guidebook-specific reminders for HR leaders to review annually including policy language, wage and hour specifics, leaves of absence and time-off policies, health and safety programs, and social media policies, to name a few. While employee guidebooks are left to the HR department to update, it is now more important than ever to collaborate with company partners in operations, IT and finance, so that all employees are on the same page.
