Slip, trip and fall cases cost the hospitality and retail industry millions each year, but with the proper prevention measures and response tactics, companies can protect themselves from dramatic losses and litigation. In the article, Ms. Stumpe outlines best practices for establishing inspection procedures, staff preparation and response management for related incidents. She notes that the fact that a customer falls on a premises does not necessarily create liability. Rather, owners should assess knowledge of hazardous conditions and implement the aforementioned procedures to quickly resolve an incident.
