"Judges Are Following The Law," The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

December 20, 2013

In response to a number of guest columns on the vanishing jury trials in the Northern District of Georgia, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution published Randy Gepp’s article, “Judges Are Following The Law,” in its December 20, print edition. Gepp emphasizes that an employee whose claims meet the minimum statutory requirement will receive a jury trial. Congress and the courts have established minimums, and federal judges in the Northern District of Georgia are performing their duties by eliminating those claims that do not reach the minimum legal threshold. In addition, jury trials are costly to employers, leading them to file motions with judges to have claims dismissed.
