Taylor English's Michele Stumpe Selected to Les Dames d’Escoffier International
Taylor English Duma LLP is pleased to announce that Michele L. Stumpe has been selected by Les Dames d’Escoffier International (LDEI) as a New Dame in the Atlanta Chapter Class of 2014. Stumpe joins eight other women in the Class of 2014 to help provide thousands of dollars in funding the chapter’s scholarships and grants to women – as well as to organizations working in the areas of green tables/farming, global culinary initiatives, and programs that teach cooking, nutrition or support anti-hunger work, where Atlanta’s 2014 donations totaled $113,457.00. Membership to LDEI is by invitation-only and selected candidates must demonstrate a rigorous commitment to the culinary industry. “At Taylor English, we encourage our attorneys to take their client relationships and professional interests a step further by getting involved with local and community organizations,” said Marc Taylor, founding member of Taylor English. “Michele’s passion for her clients and their needs is reflected in her new role with Les Dames d’Escoffier International. She has demonstrated a high level of success in Atlanta’s culinary industry, and we applaud her for her hard work and dedication to the industry.” For more than 20 years, Stumpe has been representing members of the restaurant industry in the areas of alcohol licensing and consulting, premises liability, business litigation, hospitality and dram shop litigation. She developed the Responsible Alcohol Sales & Service Workshops (RASS Workshops) that were considered to be so informative and beneficial to the industry that they are now required in many Georgia jurisdictions for obtaining an alcohol license. In 2013, Stumpe received the Georgia Restaurant Association Crystal of Excellence (GRACE) award from the Georgia Restaurant Association. The award honors an individual in the restaurant industry who has provided extraordinary service to the industry. Most recently, she co-founded The Giving Kitchen Initiative along with several of her restaurant clients. The Giving Kitchen is a 501c3 that provides a crisis fund for members of the local restaurant industry who are faced with unanticipated hardship. Stumpe is a member of the American Bar Association, Atlanta Bar Association and the State Bars of Georgia and South Carolina. She provides consulting services to the Georgia Restaurant Association, the Georgia Food Industry Association and the Georgia Association of Convenience Stores. Stumpe received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
