Taylor English Adds Intellectual Property Partner Siegfried J.W. Ruppert
ATLANTA, April 13, 2018 – Taylor English Duma LLP announces the addition of Siegfried J.W. Ruppert, Ph.D., as a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice. Based in San Francisco, Dr. Ruppert previously served as special counsel at Duane Morris LLP.

Dr. Ruppert focuses his practice on representing domestic and international clients, including startup companies, in matters regarding patent prosecution, patent litigation, patent interference, patent infringement analysis and opinion work.
He has experience efficiently managing patent portfolios, working with in-house counsel, and representing corporate and startup companies in the areas of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, diagnostics, medical devices and UV devices. In addition, Dr. Ruppert has counseled clients in opinion matters, including freedom-to-operate, infringement, patentability and patent validity.
Dr. Ruppert frequently speaks on diverse subject matters ranging from biosimilars to patent eligibility in the U.S. and abroad. Prior to his legal career, he co-authored approximately 40 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, and became an inventor on several U.S. patents.
Dr. Ruppert, a native German, earned his Ph.D. in biological sciences, with honors, from the Ruprecht-Karls University of Heidelberg in Germany. He performed post-doctoral research at the German Cancer Research Institute and at the University of California at Berkeley, followed by serving as a group leader at South San Francisco-based Genentech, Inc. where he was exposed to patent-related issues sparking his interest in intellectual property. Dr. Ruppert earned his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
