October 20, 2015

Taylor English has been named the 2015 recipient of the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation’s S. Philip Heiner Award for the firm’s sponsorship of an awareness-raising film series and ongoing commitment to its Saturday Lawyer Program and other pro bono initiatives.

The annual award is presented to an organization that embodies the ideals and dedication of the late Phil Heiner, a tireless defender of volunteer legal service to the poor. The award was announced on October 16, 2015, in conjunction with the Atlanta Bar Association’s Celebrating Service Luncheon and Pro Bono Fair at the Piedmont Driving Club.

“Taylor English has become one of AVLF’s most valued and loyal supporters, having solidified the film series as an annual community event with a packed house and a powerful message,” said the foundation’s executive director Marty Ellin. “The firm packs the house at AVLF’s legal clinics as well. From managing partners to associates, Taylor English attorneys have rolled up their sleeves and taken on cases across all of AVLF’s programs.”

“Survivors of domestic violence, hardworking Atlantans denied pay for work performed, tenants demanding better living conditions and children in need of a Guardian ad Litem have all benefitted from Taylor English’s partnership with AVLF,” said Michael Lucas, AVLF’s deputy director. “The support from and example set by the firm’s leadership has made Taylor English stand out. The dedication and quality of representation our client’s receive as a result is superior.”
