Taylor English Partner Deitra Crawley Appointed to Fulton Technology & Energy Enhancement Authority
Atlanta, Ga. (August 5, 2021) – Deitra Crawley, partner at Taylor English Duma LLP, has been appointed to the inaugural board of Fulton Technology & Energy Enhancement Authority (TEEA). The Authority recently was created by Georgia House Bill 762 to identify, target, and alleviate specific elements related to the underdevelopment of technological resources and energy burdens which result in poverty.
“While Fulton County does have agencies and programs that work to eliminate blight, improve education and workforce resources, and alleviate poverty, none of these are designed to provide specific assistance in improving technological and energy resources and reducing the energy burden on residents of these pockets,” said sponsor of HB 762 State Representative Mesha Mainor.
The Authority is governed by a board of seven members, serving four-year terms, who are appointed by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners and agencies that serve Fulton County, including the Development Authority of Fulton County, the Atlanta Regional Commission, and MARTA.
“This appointment underscores Deitra’s efforts to enhance and improve the world around her, and we are proud to call her a member of the Taylor English Duma family for more than six years now,” Marc Taylor, chair of Taylor English Duma, said. “In everything she does for clients and in service to the community, it is clear Deitra uses her knowledge and resources to make a lasting impact on others.”
In addition to serving on the newly-formed Fulton Technology & Energy Enhancement Authority, Crawley is a board member with Scouts BSA and Trees Atlanta, Inc. She also launched Global Community Mothers In Law and Know-how (MILK), a nonprofit organization that provides legal analysis of current and proposed legislation to federal, state and local policymakers regarding the impact on marginalized communities. The organization also partners with local law enforcement agencies to ensure officers are properly vetted and trained in racial discrimination and de-escalation techniques, while supporting public policy initiatives that positively impact the legal rights, safety and security of marginalized communities.
Crawley is a member of the Federal Bar Association, Maryland Bar Association and the Atlanta Bar Association. She received her undergraduate degree and master of public administration from Auburn University and her law degree from the George Washington University Law School. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
