"Union Organizing is Down but Not Out," Law360
In a recent article published by Law360, Peter Spanos discusses the effort to unionize workers in Georgia. Georgia is hardly booming when it comes to union organization, with under 5 percent of workers in the state belonging to a public or private sector union, according to the article.
Some experts say the pandemic has exacerbated the lack of organizing efforts, made the union's traditional playbook unsafe, and put many companies and unions in dire financial situations.
There was anticipation that the election of President Joe Biden would spur more membership but Spanos says that is not necessarily the case.
"Despite encouragement to unions from the current administration, union organizing in Georgia hasn't increased," Spanos said in the article.
