Olmstead’s 20th Anniversary: Much Progress, but Continued Advocacy Needed, Daily Report
The Daily Report published Taylor English partner Frank Strickland and Sidley Austin partner John Levi’s article titled, “Olmstead’s 20th Anniversary: Much Progress, but Continued Advocacy Needed.” The 1999 Olmstead case transformed the lives of people with disabilities by declaring their civil right to home and community-based services. Several states now implement an “Olmstead Plan” and Medicaid now has regulations in place promoting improved regulations. There is much more advocacy to be done, state Mr. Strickland and Mr. Levi, as many citizens with disabilities do not know their civil right to community services.
