Condensed Handbooks, Videos Can Help Train Seasonal Employees, Their Managers, Society for Human Resource Management
In an article published by the Society for Human Resource Management on November 10, 2016, Steven J. Whitehead provides insight on the importance of training seasonal employees and their managers to ensure compliance under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Mr. Whitehead provides a number of ways in which information on harassment can be distributed and he outlines other compliance issues that often arise with seasonal employees. He also stresses the importance of having agreements and handbooks to help employers avoid various misunderstandings. “The most important compliance consideration is the FLSA,” said Mr. Whitehead. “Employers should apply the same wage and hour rules to seasonal workers as they do for full-time workers.”
