In the January 2015 edition of InsideCounsel’s Labor & Employment Digest, Mitzi Hill and Raanon Gal are asked to discuss privacy issues in the workplace, including customer data and the misuse of employee or candidate data by employers. Ms. Hill and Mr. Gal tackle employee use and security of personal smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices that connect to employer accounts. They suggest that employers should consider establishing and publishing policies related to acceptable use of personal devices, including the use of password or PIN protected devices, encrypted network connections, and correctly deleting access and data from the device upon an employee’s departure from the company.
