On Aug. 8, 2013, Gardner Courson was interviewed for the article, “Bringing the GC into Enterprise Risk Management,” published by Corporate Counsel. In the article, Courson provides insight on how enterprise risk management has become increasingly crucial to how U.S. corporate operate and where in-house fit in the process. He suggests that robust risk management programs that report to the GC are beneficial for detecting fraud. Courson is adamant that the general counsel’s job is to evaluate serious risk management issues and advise senior management and the board about legal requirements, as well as the intricacies of an effective risk management process.
