Open Source Vet Joins Taylor English IP Team in San Antonio, Law360

On May 29, 2020, in an article published by Law360, Van Lindberg discusses his decision to join Taylor English’s Intellectual Property team. Van Lindberg joined the firm as a partner in March after serving as a member at Dykema Gossett for about three years, where he represented companies in high-stakes litigation and inter partes reviews.

Prior to that, Lindberg made his name in the open source community by serving as general counsel, vice president of technology and vice president of intellectual property at cloud computing service company Rackspace.

In the interview with Law360, Lindberg explains how the move to Taylor English will provide him with greater flexibility in his practice and allow him to create a top-notch open source team in the future. He said the need for attorneys well-versed in open source software is beginning to grow. "There are very few people who do open source-related work as a primary focus," he said. "It's a niche that really seems like it's going to be growing.”
