New Employment Eligibility Verification, Form I-9
Beginning on May 7, 2013, all U.S. employers must use the revised Form I-9 to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment in the United States. All employers must ensure proper completion of Form I-9 for each individual they hire for employment in the United States. This includes citizens and noncitizens. The new Form is stamped with the date "03/08/13" on the lower left corner. Although employers should begin using the 03/08/13 dated form right away, older forms with dated 02/02/09 and 08/07/09 on the lower left corner will be accepted by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) until May 7, 2013. Beginning May 7, 2013, only the 03/08/13 will be accepted.
