U.S. Companies Should Increase Cyber Awareness In Light Of U.S./Iran Posture
The Department of Homeland Security has issued a strong warning to U.S. businesses to pay close attention to their cyber security to guard against any attacks from Iran, which has a history of cyberattacks in the U.S.
We strongly urge all clients to pay attention to this guidance, which includes recommended security steps including closing unnecessary ports, confirming emergency response protocols, maintaining current back-ups, and stepping up system monitoring and patching. The full details are available on the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) website.
Even if your business does not possess national security level information, a cyberattack on multiple U.S. companies or sectors could impair U.S. economic interests and therefore national security interests. In addition, hacking one company can allow a threat actor to penetrate other companies whose networks are connected. We therefore strongly recommend that all clients assess, upgrade, and secure their networks to protect their information assets and their connection to third-party information.
