E. Ray Stanford, Jr.

Ray Stanford is a member of the Employment, Labor and Immigration practice group at Taylor English. After working with the OSHA Review Commission in Washington, D.C., Mr. Stanford moved to Atlanta in 1981 where he began advising and representing business and senior management in work-related legal matters.

As a trial attorney, Mr. Stanford has appeared in numerous local, state, and federal courts in cases that include predatory and unfair competition, fiduciary duty, federal and state racketeering, intellectual property, restrictive covenants, employment discrimination, privacy, wrongful discharge, wage and hour compensation, health and safety, pension and welfare benefits, workplace torts, and business and work contracts.

Mr. Stanford’s client list includes large and small financial institutions, national and international staffing companies, food operations, utilities, retailers, contractors, e-systems and services, and state and local governments.

Mr. Stanford’s bottom-line approach to workplace law has made him a regular speaker before bar associations, chambers of commerce, and other business organizations. His seminar series, “Fire Me . . . I’ll Sue!” and “Fire Me . . . I’ll Sue II” has been attended by representatives of over one thousand companies. Mr. Stanford has authored numerous legal publications and serves as Editor-In-Chief of Workplace Data Law (BNA, expected 2009). Other articles include Now What? Employer Strategy Under Enjoined No-Match Regs And Stepped-Up Government Enforcement Of Illegal Immigrant Laws, (Concrete Products magazine-January 2008), Workplace Data Requirements: Pressures of New Litigation Rules and Lawsuit Costs, (HR Advisor – March/April 2006).

He is currently co-director of SHRM-Georgia State Council Legislative Affairs Committee and coordinates the Community Bankers Association of Georgia’s Workplace Law Program.

Mr. Stanford attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Morehead Scholar graduating in 1976. He received his law degree from Wake Forest University, 1979 and his LL.M. from Georgetown University, 1981. He is admitted to the state bars of Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina, the Atlanta Bar Association and to various federal district and appellate courts including the Supreme Court of the United States.
