Dianne Trenholm serves as Of Counsel to the firm as a member of its Corporate & Business practice group and focuses her practice in corporate and securities law including the representation of broker-dealers, registered investment advisers and public and private companies. She advises clients with respect to compliance with state and federal securities laws and regulations, the rules of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and general corporate and commercial matters.
Prior to joining Taylor English, Ms. Trenholm practiced law with Alston & Bird LLP, a leading national law firm headquartered in Atlanta, as a member of its Financial Services and Products group and Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) team. In this role, Ms. Trenholm represented issuers of multibillion dollar initial public offerings of non-traded REITs and provided counsel to affiliated managing dealers regarding compliance with complex underwriting compensation rules. Ms. Trenholm also was a frequent contributor to Alton & Bird’s Financial Crisis Blog during the market downturn and sweeping regulatory reform that began in 2008.
From 2000 through 2007, Ms. Trenholm served as senior in-house counsel to a national independent securities broker-dealer. As senior counsel, she was directly responsible for all legal matters instrumental to the management and operations of the firm. She provided counsel with respect to commercial transactional matters, compliance with state and federal securities laws and regulations, FINRA rules, private litigation with industry competitors and clientele and enforcement inquiries initiated by various securities regulatory agencies. From 1998 through 2000, Ms. Trenholm represented corporate clientele in connection with various corporate matters including mergers and acquisitions, public and private securities offerings and general corporate governance issues.
When Ms. Trenholm is not practicing law, she enjoys serving as an Honorary Board Member of the Special Olympics of Georgia, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and spending time with her husband and adopted White German Shepherd mix, Jasper.
